![]() | ![]() It is really a wonderful thing to witness the birth of a new guitar. As with any creative process, that of the guitar progresses in stages, from the initial planning to the fine-tuning at the end to make sure everything plays just right. And then, that magical moment when the finished guitar, like a newly-metamorphosed butterfly emerging from its cocoon, finally gets a chance to spread its wings and fly in the hands of a satisfied customer. It has been my great pleasure to take part in this incredible journey every day for the past several years, and it is my aim in this section to share with you, the reader, a little piece of the joy and wonder that comes from the making of a hand-built custom guitar. If you are curious about all the different work that goes into the making of an acoustic guitar, check out the new behind-the-scenes photo-documentary of a local teenager's experience in making his first guitar, with me as his mentor. My old "How a guitar is made" section could also be of some help for this purpose. And if you interested in ordering a guitar from me, my construction notes will tell you all about the different techniques and wood types that I use on my guitars, as well as possible customization options. | ||||
