Part III: A Guitar is Born

The finish is scraped off of a small area so that the bridge can be glued down.

In a time-saving maneuver, the neck and the bridge are glued to the body simultaneously with a pair of trusty shop clamps.

A finished guitar begins to emerge.

The frets are leveled out with the aid of sandpaper.

Owen "re-crowns" the frets, using a file to make sure their edges are nice and rounded, since they were leveled out by the sandpaper in the previous step.

The frets are "de-burred", meaning that any odd hooks or snags in the metal are removed, again with a file.

The frets are polished.

Owen makes sure that the strings are set to their proper height above the fretboard.

The guitar is completed.

Owen with the guitar and his mentor.

The builder enjoys his creation.
